Don’t count on the old Steve to return when Blue’s Clues reboots after what will have been a 12-year hiatus from TV!
Steve Burns, who originally played young host Steve on the show, and Donovan Patton, who later replaced him for the final few seasons, are unlikely to be asked back to the once great Nickelodeon show when it reboots, and producers are seriously considering replacing their spot with a woman!
The hashtag #BringBackSteve has been trending on and off across social media in recent weeks with news of a Blue’s Clues reboot, but according to reports out in TMZ this morning, Burns (and Patton) are just flat-out unlikely choices to return.
Burns himself had very specific reasons for leaving the show (on good terms!) in the first place, and Patton wasn’t near as culturally impactful in his secondary, shorter run as host.
While producers are listening to what fans want — at least so far as Burns is still somewhat being considered — they are hosting an open casting call on April 18th in Burbank to find the next Steve, and they are SUPER into the idea of it being a woman, potentially.
Other than that, the show will largely remain the same: the host WILL be wearing that signature green striped polo shirt and khaki pants (no pleats this time, they say), and other aspects of the show — like Blue, and the chair — will return.
THAT would be watch-worthy!!!
